A brief History

Magelang local CLC was founded by Fr. Josef Stuffer SJ who in 1977 worked at St. Parish. Ignatius Magelang. CLC itself is a pastoral work of the Order of the Society of Jesus which is primarily intended for the laity so that they are increasingly responsible for realizing the Kingdom of God and the greater glory of God in this world. This spirit is inspired by the motto Ad Maiorem Dei Gloriam (for the greater glory of God).

Vision

To answer the above objectives, CLC members make CLC a way of life for lay Christians with the foundation or spirituality of the Spiritual Practice of Saint Ignatius Loyola. Thus, CLC members will choose ‘more’ to love, praise, glorify, and serve God as desired in their daily lives, for the sake of the greater majesty of God (AMDG) and saving souls.

Mission

  1. Members are willing to be sent as messengers of God with an Ignatian spirit (as sinners, loved by God, forgiven, and sent),
  2. Become strong servants in their respective environments or professions for the realization of the Kingdom of God (in the family, church, community and workplace),
  3. Becoming ‘man and woman for others’,
  4. Prioritizing the small, weak, poor, marginalized, disabled.

Activity

  1. Small community gathering with a maximum of 12 people, a minimum of 6 people, 1 or 2 in 1 month. A place to move from one member’s house to another’s house,
  2. Once every three months a large local community meeting in Magelang, the place alternates from one parish to the parish where members are domiciled,
  3. Daily personal activities with a way of life: following the Eucharist, personal prayer, inner examination. It can also participate in other activities that occur in their respective neighborhoods, or carry out church duties, or be involved in community life.
  4. Live all activities based on the spiritual practice of Saint Ignatius, the Bible.

Membership

CLC members are young and mature men and women from various backgrounds who want to follow Jesus Christ more and more and work with Him in building the Kingdom of God.

Membership is divided into temporary and permanent models. While there are two, namely the first and the second temporary.

  1. While the first is if the member has attended the CLC for 1 year, followed the formation course (FC) and made a temporary pledge of allegiance for one year,
  2. While the second is if the member has participated in CLC for 2 to 3 years, followed Santi Aji, and made a temporary pledge of allegiance for 2 to 3 years,
  3. Permanent, i.e. if the member has attended CLC for 4 to 5 years, attended personal tutoring retreats (BP) and made a permanent pledge of allegiance which will be repeated every 2-3 years.

The dynamics of CLC membership must always be inspired by the spirit of the Spiritual Exercises of Saint Ignatius (Ignatian). The basic spirit of CLC is the Scriptures, Saint Ignatius’ Spiritual Exercises, General Principles (Statutes), General Norms (Bylaws)
